Artist's Comments

I was in a stallion show in Thursday and Friday and I think this one was most gorgeous of them. He's french trotter/standardbred mix and was approved to the breeding of finnish harness racehorses. Lucky to have him. He is 16.8 hh (171 cm/67.3 in) tall.

So that's where he is, in Finland. Thought he was in France. At least that's where he was last time I heard.
He sure is beautiful. I used to work at the stable where he stood before, in Sweden, and he sure was a character. He thought he was the king, and I don't think many disagread with him.

he's gorgeous. i work with harness racing standardbreds in the US and am always intrigued by seeing them used in breeding around the world. how long does it take them to run a mile over there? i'm curious for comparison. i'm also curious about what you mean by 16.8hh... a hand is four inches and each number after a decimal is a whole inch... ie 16.1 16.2 16.3 17.... in any case... you've got some great horses to photograph and your shots are simply beautiful.

Thanks for the comment. Fastest standardbred owned by a Finnish person has record 1:53.2 from a mile. Fastest Finnish bred standardbred run a mile in 1:54.1. What becomes to the height of this stallion... I wouldn't really know. =P I got the others than centimeters from somewhere which must be wrong about hand... Anyway, Fakir Lavec falls in between 16.3 and 17.

hmmm... not bad at all. was just wondering how fast they run in comparison to ours. sadly, i've never been to Finland (maybe someday). in any case, he's a big horse. whatever his height, he's lovely and the shot is great!
